NEDS

 NEDS is a 2010 Scottish film directed by Peter Mullan. It won best film at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September 2010. NEDS stands for Non-Educated Delinquents. It`s a “personal but not autobiographical” (according to Mullan) coming-of-age story set in 1970s Glasgow.
It traces back the development of a young kid with an angry alcoholic father and a hard-case older brother. Being a smart and intelligent young teenager doesn`t save him from this kind of environment. It unfluences his life majorly leading him to the path of the neds.
The film is brilliantly directed. Peter Mullan showed us the harsh reality of the neds, the reason behind their behavior and the lack of support that has led to their decline. He also managed to get a terrific and even scary performances from his cast, especially from the lead actor Conor McCarron.
